World Cup in Qatar - Various titles

I take the World Cup as an opportunity to show music about the World Cup participants. This is about music and less about politics but sometimes also about soccer ....
Qatar 2022 - Ball

Qatar is the host of this World Cup, which many say it never should have been. Nevertheless, many of FIFA's national associations will soon be ready to re-elect Mr. Infantino, who apparently has little sympathy for the criticism of this selection, allows little criticism anyway and does not want to bring transparency to FIFA's decisions. We live in an imperfect world in which the tension between neglected human rights and exploitation on the one hand and the possession of money and fossil fuels on the other leads to complicated decisions. So it can happen that you heat your home with gas or oil from Qatar or Russia and at the same time protest against the awarding of the World Cup or the war in Ukraine. The attitude often demanded would then mean sitting in the cold.

You can also boycott the World Cup. But the money has already gone to FIFA and everyone has to ask themselves who they are actually affecting with their boycott? In case of doubt, you are hurting yourself. But you can also take Robbie Williams ' argument, who said about his performances at the World Cup: "But, that being said, if we're not condoning human rights abuses anywhere, then it would be the shortest tour the world has ever known: I wouldn't even be able to perform in my own kitchen." - He added: "Anybody leaving messages saying 'no to Qatar' are doing so on Chinese technology. It would be hypocritical of me to not go [to Qatar] because of the places that I do go to."

Wouldn't it make more sense for fans to besiege FIFA headquarters in Zurich 365 days a year and draw attention to their needs? For example, no Super League, fairer distribution of funds, a cap on salaries in the football business, reform of the transfer system, no awarding of the World Cup to countries by the (many say: bribed) FIFA representatives but by referendum, etc. I haven't seen any such protests in Zurich yet.

Music, like football, should bring people together and not divide them. With the awarding of the World Cup to Qatar, FIFA has not quite succeeded in doing this. One thing must not be forgotten in all this discussion. The people in the Arab world are extremely proud to be hosting the World Cup. To spoil it for them through constant discussion will not result in a positive image for the critics in these countries. There are certainly other ways than criticizing on the football pitch and during such an event and perhaps it will be even better received.

But now it's all about music. The countries now appear according to the World Cup schedule. So the first country is the host Qatar. To get you in the mood, here's one of the songs from the official FIFA World Cup record.
