I then researched music from Qatar, but found very little on the web. A pity, really. With only 10% Qataris in the country (approx. 270,000 of the 2.7 million inhabitants), it would have been a miracle if there wasn't an import in this area too, and a small country can't produce very many artists. Fahad Al Kubaisi was allowed to sing at the opening ceremony. I have his current song from the year 2022 as a video below.
And then I came across Naser Mestarihi, a Jordanian-Pakistani singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Qatar. He was the first rock/metal musician to release an album from Qatar. He was also a member of the first Qatari metal band Asgard Legionnaires. In the video below, this is no longer quite so traditional
