The Beatles - Glass Onion

The greatest album by the greatest band in the world. As the Beatles only released studio albums and hi-fi and stereo were all the rage at the time, the production quality here is just right and you can hear the Beatles' love of experimentation.
The Beatles - Glass Onion - the white album

The text was written by John Lennon and deals with the attempt to interpret the Beatles' lyrics. The question of what the artist must have been thinking when he created his art is something that the entire art industry is concerned with. I think part of it is the creative process, which initially takes place without deep thought. The interpretation (new German: storytelling) only comes later, when it comes to selling the work. Either way, I like the unagitated elegance of Glass Onion. There are currently more than 40 versions of the song on Spotify - obviously many others like it too.

A total of 34 different versions of the song were recorded in the studio. The final version then follows the 33rd version heard on the Beatles Anthology. On the one hand, the album itself shows how experimental and versatile the Beatles were. On the other hand, the variety also shows how much the four musicians were already occupied with their solo careers and their own lives after the Beatles.

The Beatles stopped their live concerts after the second US tour and only performed once more at the Rooftop Concert. It took place on January 30, 1969 on the roof of Apple Corps Studios. Around the time the Beatles withdrew from live concerts, the switch from mono to stereo took place. So after retiring from live concerts, the Beatles began to concentrate more on experimental work in the studio, including experiments with stereo effects. On Glass Onion, various instruments were clearly assigned to the left or right channel. For example, bass on the left and drums on the right. If you sit in front of the soundboard, you can hear this effect in a wonderful spatiality.
