Michael Jackson - They don't care about us

When Michael Jackson wrote the song, he received harsh criticism because the song was considered anti-Semitic, which he denied. The title fits very well with the current situation in Ukraine and Russia. Because nobody cares about the people at the moment.
Michael Jackson - They dont care about us

The contentiousness of Michael Jackson is undisputed, but that is not the point here. The point here is that the attack on Ukraine shows in many ways that the military junta, which has currently kidnapped the Russian people, has completely lost both its own people and the Ukrainian people, as well as the word humanity. We must be aware that 10% of the Russian population have relatives in Ukraine and that this attack is therefore an attack on their own people, that the consequences of the war for their own people are being accepted with complete cynicism and that the informal isolation of the population - they believe in a peace mission in eastern Ukraine - is tantamount to the capture of all Russians. The Russian soldiers - often conscripts who were only supposed to take part in an exercise - are being sent to a defenseless Ukraine and the war is being fought with high casualties on both sides. Here, too, the war is not "only" directed against a supposed enemy, but also against its own people. In my opinion, all you can say as a Russian is: "They don't care about us."

The question also arises as to why there were no increased diplomatic efforts to reach a peaceful settlement of the conflict after the increase in troops on the Ukrainian border from March 2021. Only from January 2022, when there were already 200,000 Russian soldiers and equipment at the gates of Ukraine, was there any kind of emergency diplomacy. The Chinese, who themselves see this war as a test balloon for Taiwan and are masters at controlling, bullying and oppressing their own people, are supporting the Russian regime in order to weaken the West. The Ukrainian government seemed to have no interest in reaching an agreement with Russia, preferring instead to turn half the people into displaced persons, and the West exerted no noticeable pressure on the negotiating partners. All I can think of is: "They don't care about us."

If you want to know how to prevent wars, listen to another Michael Jackson song. Perhaps the greatest anti-war song: Man in the Mirror.

Michael Jackson said: "'Man In The Mirror' is a great message. I love that song. If John Lennon was alive, he could really relate to that song because it says that if you want to make the world a better place, you have to work on yourself and change first....start with the man in the mirror. Start with yourself. Don't be looking at all the other things. Start with you. That's the truth. That's what Martin Luther King meant and Gandhi too. That's what I believe."

The song is from 1989 and we are being catapulted back to the time before that. Or it's getting worse. They don't care about us.
