Harry Belafonte – Matilda

How has a recording remained on the list of the best recordings since 1959? Find out here. (Harry Belafonte plays a role, of course) ...
Harry Belafonte at-carnegie hall 1959

There are always several reasons why a recording remains on the list of outstanding recordings for a very long time. The first reason is always the artist himself, who in this case impresses with the subject matter of his songs and his unique voice. The second reason is Harry Belafonte’s excellent involvement of the audience and his humor. Then there is the very good technical realization and finally the fact that the recording exists as an SACD.

Matilda is the last song on the double LP and a prime example of the reasons described above why Matilda by Harry Belafonte at Carnegie Hall still plays a prominent role today.
