So I sat down in this little room, or rather a box, and in front of me was a Devialet Phantom, which I was naturally curious about. Devialet must have provided these little boxes themselves and equipped them with a small playlist on an MP3 player, which included “These Bones”.
The guys sang really low and not only did the bass come out of the Devialet, but the whole box vibrated. Impressive, but I prefer the slightly more realistic reproduction of the song on our Sarasvati soundbar.
The Fairfield Four is a gospel group that came together in 1921 when the boys were still young. The original line-up is, of course, long dead, but the music lives on as the group is constantly re-cast.
The title comes from the 1997 album “I Couldn’t Hear Nobody Pray”, which won a Grammy Award in the “Best Traditional Gospel Recording” category. The group became famous with an appearance in the movie “Oh Brother where art thou”, the soundtrack of which is already great to listen to.
