Pharrell Williams – Freedom

A hot topic of our time in a song from 2015....

Rosa Luxemburg said that freedom is always the freedom of those who think differently and that the freedom of the individual is always part of the freedom of all. What does all this have to do with Parrell Williams’ catchy and cheerful song? According to him, freedom is the origin of everything. Those who are confined cannot develop and freedom is symbolized by the fire that burns within us to drive us forward. Restrictions extinguish the fire. But if we restrict others, we extinguish their fire. The only problem is that Rosa Luxemburg was unable to convey the impression that she meant to be so tolerant in any of her other texts. She was more of an anarchist. So let’s stick to the music of Pharrell Williams and dance wherever we hear the clean and lightly produced song and hope that freedom – as he sings – will stay with us for a long time to come.
